Dorothy Black is an established artist and teacher.
Her studio is in a converted church in Milton of Balgonie.
Dorothy has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions and has built a reputation for powerful draughtsmanship, strong compositions and bold use of colour.
Perhaps best known for her figure paintings where the solid structure of a pose is contrasted with freer painterly handling on the dress, she also enjoys still life and print.
Dorothy is inspired by her rural surroundings, fascinated by shapes and structures in plant forms, especially weeds – creating large-scale mixed media drawings.
