Dorothy Black is an artist working in a sunny studio in Markinch.
Dorothy has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions and has built a reputation for powerful draughtsmanship, strong compositions and bold use of colour.
Perhaps best known for her figure paintings where the solid structure of a pose is contrasted with freer painterly handling on the dress, she also enjoys still life and print.
Dorothy has recently launched herself into a new body of work inspired by her rural surroundings. She is fascinated by shapes and structures in plant forms, especially weeds – creating large-scale mixed media drawings.
