Douglas is showing a collection of sketches from the north shore of the Forth called Harbours, Creeks, and Skerries. He has been drawing up and down the coast for many years so this is the continuation of an enduring interest. By deciding on a uniform paper format and the limited technique of pencil or crayon he can work quickly out of doors, even in winter. Back in the studio he may add washes of watercolour which helps to create atmosphere without inhibiting the spontaneity of the original image.
