Katie is inspired by pattern and colour - particularly the intricate patterns found on insect wings and the hidden colours and details revealed on closer inspection. These are the starting point for Katie’s drawings. She likes to use pencil to capture the detail and watercolour to add depth.
Katie also works with textiles, making colourful and functional bags and accessories from denim - always with pattern and colour bursting from somewhere.
Screen printing brings both these aspects of Katie’s work together. Colourful prints of insects feature on the fabric used to make some of her accessories.
