Katie looks for all the hidden little details and colours found on insects, birds and other nature. The hairy legs of a bee or the amazing jewel - like colours hidden in a starling until the light shines on it in just the right way. She then draws these intricacies with a super sharp pencil and her watercolours.
These drawings are just the starting point for her work. They stand alone but are also used to create silk screen prints. This enables Katie to play with bold blocks of colour for a more graphic interpretation.
Finally, Katie uses the drawings to turn into patterns which she has digitally printed onto a variety of fabrics to use for making a range of homeware and accessories.
