Katie makes intricate pencil and watercolour drawings of birds, insects and flowers. She is fascinated by pattern, colour and busyness and finding it in all sorts of places. The many lines on a dragonfly wing, the feather patterns on a bird and all the hidden details and colours seen only when the light catches something in just the right place.
The drawings stand alone and work hard at the same time – they appear on giclée prints, tea towels and greetings cards and as silk screen prints where Katie plays with bold blocks of colour for a more graphic interpretation.
Finally, the drawings feature as patterns which Katie has digitally printed onto a variety of fabrics to use for making her range of homeware and accessories.
